Healthy, Simple, and Super Delicious Yogurt Parfait Recipe

I love yogurt, fruits and nuts and that is the reason, I simply love Yogurt Parfait. It is not only simple and yummy. It is very healthy as it incorporates yogurt, which is fermented. It is especially good to eat in the morning fermented food. It is also good for the gut when we have it as a snack or dessert. Yogurt Parfait usually begins with a thick and creamy yogurt layered with homemade granola and fresh fruits then topped finally with drizzle of honey. Also, another reason to fall in love with this yogurt parfait is that it can be pre-prepped ahead of time and put together in just few minutes.


It is best to use Greek Yogurt. Please check my post, how to make Greek Yogurt. Plain yogurt, flavored ones or plant based yogurt can also be used instead. The yogurt is then layered with granola. This gives it a sweet and crunchy texture. The creamy yogurt and crunchy granola combination is what makes it irresistible. I use my homemade granola which has goodness of oats, nuts, seeds and dried fruit. And what makes it perfect is that fresh fruits added to third layer. It make this yogurt parfait sweeter and helps you get the goodness of the fruits. Actually, what makes Fruit yogurt Parfait tastes so yummy is that the layer combines in the mouth, the texture of smooth and creamy yogurt with fruits flavor and granola crunch. In short, this has all that one loves and all that is good for one’s health in one cup. No wonder they call it 'Parfrait', which in French means perfect.

YOGURT AND FRUIT PARFAIT RECIPE


Section 1: Ingredients




  • 2 cup( 200 grms) Greek Yogurt- Greek Yogurt can be shop brought or home made Greek Yogurt. In the video shared I used homemade Greek Yogurt. Please check my post, how to make Greek Yogurt. (You can also use Regular yogurt or flavored yogurt or diary free yogurt instead of Greek yogurt).

  • a pinch of salt, 1/4 tsp Vanilla essence to flavor and 2 tsp Maple syrup to sweeten yogurt.

  • 1/2 cup Granola: Granola can be shop brought or home made Granola. In this I used homemade granola.

  • 6 Strawberries and one banana chopped bite size: In this I used strawberries and bananas but any fruits of your choice can be used

  • Honey to drizzle (Optional)


Section 2: Directions


1. If you using flavored yogurt, you can skip the first step. If you are using home made Greek yogurt or regular yogurt, then add a pinch of salt, Vanilla essence and Maple syrup and whisk till it is creamy.

2. Select a clear cup or bowl that you would love to eat out of ( To serve for breakfast serve in a clear bowl or cup and if you want to serve it as desert then serve it in dessert cups. For those who used to having breakfast on the go like the office goers, university students etc. can use cups as it is easy to hold)

3. Layering the cups: Layer each cup with yogurt, homemade granola and chopped fruits. Repeat the layers until the cup is full. On the top you can drizzle with honey.




Yogurt parfaits can be pre-prepped to make on a busy day and stored in the fridge. They are simple to make ahead of time and can be layered and served straight when required. However, they are best fresh and made at the time of enjoying. Also, for those hectic mornings you can prepare, that is, layer these ahead of time, but Some fruits may color the the yogurt layer if they sit for too long. It is best to prepare the layers in a cup and store in the fridge so you can have a grab and go breakfast each morning. Try this recipe or tweak it with different flavored yogurt or fruits.
