Curry leaves rice a.k.a. kariveppila chor | karuveppilai sadam | karibevu chitranna, is popular flavoured rice mostly made in different South Indian states and known by different names. It's super easy and tasty rice made with curry leaf powder and cooked rice( click on this link for the recipe of the curry leaf powder). It can be enjoyed as a quick lunch or dinner. The best part is that it does not require many side dish as it tastes good on its own. Also, it can be served with just a yogurt/curd or tempered buttermilk or raita and pappad. It ideal for those days when we have to fix a quick lunch or dinner or for those who have no much time to cook. Also, ideal to pack in kid's lunch box. It's nutrient rich and filling.
Born and broought up in Bangalore, I am exposed to many kinds of flavoured rice like chitranna, puliyogare etc. I am huge fan of flavoured rice. Among them this is one of my personal favorite recipe not only beacuse of the flavour but also for all the great health benifits of curry leaves added in this recipe. It's not prepared so commonly like other rice but it's a great way to include curry leaves, which has amazing health benifits. Also, with tempered butter milk/yogurt/raitha it's nutrient richcomplete meal with minimum effort. So let's get started with the recipe.
